fe as a means of sharing with the world at large, a delicious and easy to make Family Fruit Cake - the idea has grown somewhat!
I have chosen to focus on simple recipes (foolproof even!) - to encourage everyone to make their own. If you make your own you at least know what has gone into them, and thus ensure you are avoiding additives, e-numbers, etc., plus you will be getting tastier goods and saving money.
You, and your friends and family will win all ways round - in fact you could even set up your own baking to order service - no-one needs to know how easy it is to make these glorious home-made treats!
At the inception there are now 10 delicious recipes, (some with FREE extras) - for cakes, desserts, marzipan, and Rum Truffles, plus some recipes which are useful to those with an intolerance or allergy to dairy products.
Please read on about the Fruit Cake; after that I will touch briefly on the other recipes which are available.
Family Fruit Cake - The Best in the World!
Can you think of anything to beat a delicious home-made fruit cake? This one is just so beautifully moist - and so easy to make - (the hardest part is lining the cake tin).
I have altered this recipe over the years to make it 'foolproof', to improve the flavour, and to ensure the cake is always moist. This is an old recipe, it is so easy to make, and it tastes wonderfully moist. I am proud to have won a First Prize in a County Show with my fruit cake.
I make no apologies for the fact that the recipe is in 'pounds and ounces' only - that is what it was designed for! (If you wish to translate it, remember that using 25g [28g is better] per ounce will make a smaller cake and other items which are not measured by weight need to be reduced slightly - also the cake tin size and cooking times will have to be changed too!)
I make my cake with the aid of a 3 1/2-pint / 2 litre microwavable jug, and melt the butter [or Soya margarine] in there for approximately 2 minutes on defrost/simmer.
The other alternative is a large saucepan to melt the butter in - either way all the other ingredients are added on top of the melted butter.
You can weigh your jug, if you are using this method, and then add on the ingredients: - e.g. My jug weighs 6 oz., butter required is 4 1/2 oz., so I take my scales up to 10 1/2 oz and so on, remembering to add in those ingredients which are weighed.
I know this sounds complicated, but, in fact, it is very easy in practice - and saves on washing up!
It is a deliciously simple cake to make - and it turns out simply delicious! I hope you will enjoy it, in its many variations, as much as we always do.
Other Family Recipes That Must Be Shared!
Now we come to some of the other recipes. My own personal preference tends towards the desserts and Rum Truffles, although I am an avid fan of marzipan - and the Chocolate Sauce is wonderful, so versatile!
Most of these recipes have been in the family for over 15 years, some well over 30! They have been consistently tweaked and brought up to date as tastes have changed, and have now reached an ideal state where they are so easy to make and foolproof that it is a shame not to share them.
The Bun Loaf is a fruit loaf, which is served in slices, buttered. Very good if you are trying to increase fibre in your diet.
Extremely easy to make, all the measurements are in cups. Some people like it best after it has been kept a few days; I prefer it on the day it is made, as it is crunchy on the outside and soft inside - Delicious!

Quick Banbury Cakes - if you have tried the real shop bought ones and liked them, then these are for you. It works out much cheaper to make your own and although you can't get the authentic flaky pastry at the Supermarket, the puff pastry which you can get will be delicious. Chocolate (Biscuit) Gateau - a very old recipe, my children still want one for their birthdays and they're in their thirties! Time consuming to put together, but delicious - you can make it a day in advance, which saves time on the day! There is absolutely NO cooking involved, very easy.
Sponge Cake Slices - One square slice is never enough. Made in oblong cake trays, then iced and once the icing has set, cut into squares. Lemon flavoured and lovely. Ideal for children's parties, picnics or with a cup of tea or coffee at any time. Also included is a FREE recipe for Dairy Free Pancakes / Yorkshire Pudding.
Microwave Chocolate Cake - If you want a Chocolate Cake that you make in the Microwave - then this is the one! This recipe can be made 'Dairy Free'. I have included a way to convert this cake recipe into the most delicious Sponge Pudding you can imagine with variations.
Also included is a Chocolate Sauce to die for. This sauce alone is worth the price of this recipe collection.

Luxury Marzipan - Why anyone ever buys ready-made marzipan I will never know. If you like marzipan, then make your own to this recipe - I guarantee you will never buy ready-made again. It is SO simple to make and it's not just for icing cakes, why not make some sweets too?
Rum Truffles - If you enjoy Rum Truffles, then home made really are the best and I have included 2 different recipes for the price of one! They are both delicious and some of the least time consuming home made sweets to make - it is rather a messy job ? but there is the consolation that your hands taste just SO good! It all depends which ingredients you have to hand as to which recipe you make. Try both recipes and see which one you prefer. I can't make up my mind! A wonderful excuse to keep making them, and making them ??
Pavlova - This is a superb dessert. Crisp on the outside and squidgy on the inside - just as it should be. Serve with fresh fruit in season and lashings of real cream flavoured with any spirits you have to hand.
Marshmallow Dessert - Last, but most certainly not least comes Marshmallow Dessert which is just so, so, easy it's unbelievable. If you like Marshmallows, then you cannot fail to absolutely rave about this! I have only ever found one person who didn't want the recipe because they liked it just So Much - and that was someone who just hates Marshmallows!
